Horse people get it. We've all been touched one way or another by these amazing animals. They've taught us about love, life, dignity, strength, and persistence. We all have experienced horse lessons.

Sorry this is late, I’ve been busy with my new job.
Congrats to our new Featured Horse, Black Betty!

“This is my horse “Black Betty”. We have a rather odd relationship. It all started back in 2009, when i walked over to a farm in the back of my house, and started taking lessons. The owner of the farm, Martha told me that this horse was for sale for 500 dollars, and unbroke. This horse was abandoned at her farm. So i started taking care of her before we bought her. Teaching her basic ground manners. Brushing out her matted mane and tail. Grooming and lunging her everyday. We bought her. As i continued to work with her, it came the time to get onto her back. Teach her how to walk and trot calmly. Canter, and how to stop. All the basics. Back at that time i didn’t have a saddle. So i did it all bareback. I fell off quite a bit. But it taught me to always get back on. That’s exactly what i did. Later on i was away from the barn for a little bit. I came back, and my horse was gone. The barn was gone. Martha sold MY horse, and demolished her barn. She ran out of town and we couldn’t peruse her, as we didn’t know were she was. She dropped off the face of the planet. 2 years later, i was browsing craigslist. I saw an add for a “SOLID PAINT MARE”. I clicked on it out of curiosity, because Weasy AKA “Black Betty” was a Solid Paint Mare. It was her. I just started breaking down in tears. I immediately called the woman and scheduled a time to go and see her. Later that weekend as we pulled up to the barn she was at, i called out her name. She turned her head and whinnied really loud. That had to be the fastest I’ve ever ran and hopped a fence. We re-bought her. Now, the horse who everyone told me was worthless, should be put in a slaughter factory, and was a burden is now winning 1st place in almost every show. The horse who was worthless can jump higher than any other horse at that barn. The horse who should of been put to slaughter has more heart than any horse at that barn. She is a mare, and has a lot of mare moments, but that just teaches me to keep trying, and never give up. No matter how hard it is.”
